BLOG POST #1:
Copying…Collaborating… "Helping a friend"…Googling it…Reprinting: Let’s redefine what cheating means in the 21st century.
This current event was originally posted by Erin_C, and I think it’s an important as well as critical discussion to have as learners. Check out the link below:
Kids Cheating in School
Moms and teachers are taking a stand. We are started to notice how common cheating is becoming and that we need to stop it. Children are resulting to plagiarism through websites such as wikipedia and these parents and teachers want it to stop. They say that one reason this is happening is because of the parents themselves. They are pushing there children to high standards and that is when they start. They cant handle the pressure so they will just take articles off line and hope for a good grade. This is just the start of a huge problem.

THRIVING IN AN AGE OF CONSTANT CHANGE
Take a look at this spoof of Verizon Wireless by Saturday Night Live. How do you keep up with all the changes in technology? How should schools keep up? Should we allow students to bring their own devices to school to learn?
BLOG POST #3: TECHNOLOGY AND ETHICS
I’ve been thinking about the speed of technology and innovation and the beliefs that govern are perceptions of right and wrong. Our morals* and ethics* can never keep pace, so how do we govern ourselves and each other?
Think about the following:
Think about the following:
- We now have access to previously blocked sites like Facebook, Youtube, and other social networking sites on MTLSD Wifi.
- Learning can happen anywhere, anytime, and from any device.
- We’re using iPads in the classroom.
- We’ve been integrating cell phones in class.
- Bring Your Own Technology movement is afoot.
- The ability of devices to take pictures and record audio and video
- Sharing of usernames and passwords for public and private websites
- Using and personalizing devices that don’t belong to you.
- What does privacy mean?
- Borrowing district equipment for projects
Now, let’s collectively write a set of guidelines to govern ourselves ethically and morally. Respond to this blog post with suggestions.
*Ethics: (philosophy) The study of principles relating to right and wrong conduct. This principle is used to describe standards of behavior between individuals. (Wiktionary)
*Morals: principles or habits with respect to right or wrong conduct. (Dictionary.com)
